Directv and AT&T have reached an agreement where Directv will be sold to AT&T customers under as a co-branded television service. The move will allow AT&T to bundle satellite television services with its current phone and broadband services.

AT&T confirmed Tuesday that it will begin selling Apple's iPhone beginning July 11th for $199 for the 8 gig version and $299 for the 16 gig version. AT&T also stated that an activation charge of $18 to $36 would also be required. AT&T also announced plans to sell the iPhone without requiring a contract at later date at the price points of $599 and $699.

When the new 3G iPhone is released this summer, AT&T, may be looking to subside the phone cutting the price by as much as $200. According to sources, Apple will release two models one with 8 gigabytes of memory and the other with 16 gigabytes of memory priced at $399 and $499; however, if AT&T subsides the phones they may be purchased for $199 and $299.

AT&T reported a 22 percent increase in revenues mostly on increased sales of Apple's iPhone and savings from its 2006 BellSouth acquisition which eliminated roughly 10,000 jobs. Chief Financial Officer Rick Lindner stated that although it is widely known that Apple is releasing a new version of its iPhone in the coming months, demand for its current model has been quite stable.

He reported that the majority of slow down is coming from service disconnections related to nonpayment. AT&T reported that it plans to connect main networks hubs spanning 25 major cities with the new equipment in the next coming months. CEO, Randell Stephenson, reported Friday that he has not come up with a viable business model for utilizing the 700 MHz spectrum up for auction. AT&T was expected to be one of the top bidders in the FCC auction and AT&T may still bid in the auction; however, it is now unlikely that AT&T will be a major bidder in the auction.
