China Mobile Peoples, a subsidiary of China Mobile, announced plans to offer free incoming cell phone calls across Hong Kong and Guangdong. The company is hoping that by offering free incoming calls it will be able to rapidly gain market share.

China Mobile, the largest wireless carrier in China, dropped nearly 8.2 percent Monday as the government released plans to merge smaller operations in order to increase competition. China Mobile has yet to start any former negotiations with Apple Inc. about selling the iPhone to its customers. China Mobile currently has 380 million subscribers roughly 30 percent of China's population, and it is expanding rapidly into rural areas. China Mobile stated that they are open to discussions; however, conflicted business models have prevented any formal contract between the two companies.

China Mobile, the largest mobile phone carrier in the world, posted strong growth for 2007. The company has been increasing its subscribers while at the same time increasing its revenues per subscriber by brining in additional revenues from its new music and instant messaging services.

China Mobile reported Wednesday that it has added 7.04 million new subscribers in January. It now currently has 376.38 million subscribers.

China Mobile announced that they are no longer in talks with Apple Inc. to bring Apple's iPhone to the market in China. China Mobile reported that Apple wanted between 20 and 30 percent of fees related to data services, including downloading games, music, and websites, for all iPhone users. China mobile currently has 362.8 million wireless subscribers, more then the U.S., Japan, and the U.K. combined.... More

China Mobile is currently negotiating with Apple Inc. to bring iPhones into China. The deal is far from over and the companies need to work out the difference over revenue sharing, said CEO Wang Jianzhou. Apple plans to bring the iPhone to the Asia market in 2008 and is negotiating with various Asian operators.

China's Mobile market reported that it had reached 500 million mobile phone users, more then double that of U.S. markets.
