As part of a settlement, American Electric Power has agreed to pay $4.6 billion in new pollution control measures. This represents a huge victory for the Clinton administration who initially brought the lawsuit against the company more then eight years ago.

Reliant Energy reported a loss of 83 cents per share due to unrealized losses of $326 million in energy derivatives for this quarter and lower demand due to much milder weather conditions.

Korea Electric posted a huge increase in revenues beating estimates for Q2.

TransCanada reported earnings of 48 cents a share compared to an earnings of 50 cents a share the year prior. This was due to a $1.725 billion stock issue during the first quarter. Revenues were up 31% year over year.

Meuller Water Products announced earnings of -$0.01 a share and a net loss of 1.3 million dollars compared to a net income of 38.8 million the previous year.

AEP posted earnings of $180 million or 45 cents a share for the quarter ending June 30, 2006. Analysts were expecting earnings as high as 58 cents a share.

FirstEnergy plans to web cast their second quarter results on August 7th. The web cast will begin at 1pm eastern.

Duke Energy announced a plan allowing consumers to opt to pay slightly more to guarantee that 200kWhs of their monthly power will be supplied through the use renewable energy.

Peg reported Q2 earnings of $1.15 a share down 3 cents from this quarter 2006. Excluding one-time merger related costs the earnings would have only been down 1 cent from 2006.

Exelon sinks as it announces 1 billion in refunds and discounts to customers hit by significantly higher energy prices.

Allegheny Energy announced favorable Q2 income due to higher pricing and increased retail delivery sales. Operating revenues advanced 14.4% from last year.
