Frequently Asked Questions

Using Strumors

How does Strumors rank articles?

Each time a user rates a news article either up indicating that the news article has a positive impact on the underlining asset or down indicating that the news article will have a negative impact on the underlining asset, the article is given a higher rank. Thus the more ratings an article has in period of time the higher the rank. Articles that retain a low number of ratings will be filtered out.

How does Strumors calculate user points?

A user point is rewarded each time someone ranks an article. That user point is then given to the user who submitted the article.

How does Strumors calculate summary performance for a given category?

For each category, performance is calculated by the sum of the percent change of each asset times its market cap and then divided by the overall market cap.

What about micro cap equities?

Micro cap equities can be submitted for news articles; however, micro cap stocks will not be included in any summary calculations, daily leaders, or daily laggards.

How long are quotes delayed?

We are always working to improve our quote system's efficiency, reliability, performance and scalability; however, at this time quotes may be delayed up to one hour depending on the type of asset. We are looking to replace the quote system as soon as possible.
