Shares of Cisco dropped over 8 percent in after hours trading as the company issued a warning of a possible slowdown in sales growth. For the quarter, Cisco reported an increase in revenues of 7.2 percent over the same quarter a year prior; however, the company warned that results for next quarter would be lower then what analysts had been predicting. Analyst's reported that the news impacts the technology sector as a whole, stating that the technology sector is at high risk of a U.S. economic downturn.
