Intel & Micron Working to Increase Flash Memory Speeds by 500 Percent (www.informationweek.com)

Intel and Micron Technology reported on Friday that the two companies have developed technology for solid state drives that is nearly five times faster then current NAND based drives. Chips based on the technology can reach read speeds up to 200 MB per second and write speeds up to 100 MB per second. Current flash drives have maximum read-write speeds of 40 MB and 20 MB, and even faster then high-end scsi drives, which typically have rewrite rates of 70 to 80 MB.
