Goldman Sacs reported Q3 earnings of $6.13 compared to Q3 earnings of $3.26 in 2006 well above analysts expectations. Goldman's performance was due to record investment banking and equity trading. Goldman had significantly losses from sub-prime loans and mortgage based securities; however, they were able to offset the majority of the impact by shorting mortgage based securities.
