Dow Suffers Largest One Day Drop in History After Bailout Rejected (www.bloomberg.com)

The House of Representatives rejected the $700 billion plan to rescue the economy sending the indexes down across the board. The S&P 500 index slid the most since the 1987 crash and the Dow recorded its largest one day point drop in history. Wachovia sunk nearly 82 percent in one day as the bank was sold to Citigroup in a deal brokered by the FDIC.
