According to Richard Gardner, a Citigroup analyst, MacBooks have already begun shipping with a possible launch date of October 14th. The report from Barrons also indicates the new MacBooks will be priced significantly lower, and may represent the lower profit margins Apple predicted for future quarters during their Q3 financial results meeting. Apple also leaked news about a future product transition during that same meeting.
