As part of Microsoft's strategy to catch-up with online competitors including Google and Yahoo, Microsoft has agreed to acquire Greenfield Online Inc. for $486 million. Greenfield operates popular shopping sites in Europe. Microsoft, who currently has 9 percent global search share, has an even lower share overseas. The move is aimed at helping Microsoft provide more services to help consumers find products on the Internet.
